Through this blog we want to share the ministry and Costa Rica with our readers by means of several weekly posts. These posts will include A Glimpse of Costa Rica (photos of people and places), Did You Know...(facts and information about Costa Rica), as well as a post featuring a different child each week. We also plan to use the blog to keep you up-to-date on events, activities, needs, and prayer requests related to the Kids Kitchen, other ministry projects, and the family. We hope you will visit often. Blessings!

GOD's Little Ones

My name is Vielka (pronounced Vee-el-kah). I am 4 years old. I live with my parents and my big sister Mirca. My favorite color is pink and my favorite animal is a puppy. My favorite food is green beans. My favorite place to be is here in Costa Rica. I love to run and sing. My favorite song is Salto Hacia Adelante (Jump Forward). My favorite game is Hide-n-Seek. I don't like eggs to eat, but I love strawberries. When I grow up I want to be a teacher.

GOD's Little Ones

Every week I hope to get up a post that will feature one of the children we are working with. The purpose of the post is so that you can identify with them and learn abit about them. Each and every one of them is a precious child that GOD loves. We hope that you will love them, too, and please pray for them and for us as we reach out to them.

My name is Mirca (pronounced Meer-kah). I am ten years old and I live with my parents and little sister. My favorite color is red. My favorite animal is a dog. My favorite thing to eat is chicken. I love going to school and I like to draw. I love to sing hymns and children's choruses. My favorite is Hogar Dulce Hogar (Home Sweet Home). I like sports, especially tennis. Something that I don't like are people who are rude and mistreat other people. Something I do like are people who love and care about other people. When I grow up I want to be a teacher and will teach English as a foreign language.

All The Little Children

Working with these children is such a blessing. It is a joy to watch them grow both physically and spiritually. Here Sam is pictured with a group of the children. They are standing in front of the Ochomogo church building where the Kids Kitchen is held. Your donations will make it possible for us to do more for these children.

A fairly common site in rural Costa Rica. The ox carts are painted with bright, intricate designs. Notice the man has a machete on his belt.

Work in Progress

Good morning to all!

We hope you will forgive us for our progress (or lack thereof) on getting up photos of the children from the Kids Kitchen. As we are moving around quite alot at the present (visiting churches in KY, OH, ILL, and IND), having an internet connection that is fast enough to upload photos is proving to be somewhat of a problem. I am hoping that I will have some actual news and photos up by this weekend.

Thank you for your patience and.....please.....stop by to visit often.

Did you know...

Costa Rica was first explored by the Spanish in the early 1500s, but colonization proved unsuccessful due to disease from mosquito-infested swamps, brutal heat, resistance by the natives, and pirate raids.
